Chocolate Chip Scones

For the scones

  • 3 cups flour
  • 2/3 cups sugar
  • 2 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1 cup butter, cold
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

For the vanilla glaze

  • 1 – 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 4 – 5 tbsp heavy whipping cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  2. In a large bowl whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.
  3. Cut in the butter and mix with your hands until the mixture is like small peas/crumbs.
  4. In a small bowl, combine the egg, whipping cream and vanilla extract. Mix well and add to the dry ingredients.
  5. Combine the wet and dry ingredients together well. Incorporate chocolate chips into the mixture.
  6. Place the dough on a floured surface and lightly knead the dough to bring it together. You will also need flour on your hands.
  7. Roll out the dough to approximately 1 – 2 inches thick. Cut into desired shapes.
  8. Bake scones on a baking sheet for 15 – 18 minutes.

For the vanilla glaze

  1. Add heavy cream to the powdered sugar 1 – 2 tablespoons at a time until desired consistency is reached.
  2. Add in vanilla.
  3. Allow the scones to cool completely before glazing.
